Shanghai, China

my sch was so kind. they decided to send us to shanghai for an educational trip, to learn abt their culture and history and also check out their hotels and stuff. i wasnt all ready for shanghai till that morning when i started to pack my bags. i realised i needed alot of stuff so i went shopping for shampoo, soap etc. i wasnt even really excited to go. still could meet up with my friend and go play initial d.

DAY 1: DEPARTURE AND ARRIVAL
anw i got back home at 9, got dressed and took a cab there with my parents and my bro. straight went to find my class and report my attendance and register etc. everything was on schedule. went to departure hall at 2315 sharp. we were all early that maam and sir let us walk ard so me, fahmi and Emma went to the DFS(Duty Free Shop) and bought a carton of winston which cost only $17.90. how awesome is that. anw the flight was great. i really loved the take off and landing and i watched predators again and karate kid. i was sitting right by the window and the sunrise was just beautiful. airline food was wierd. omelette with cheese, 2 begedil and 2 meat balls. farted alot on the plane. dont know why when we landed Wendilyn's bag had a huge crack like someone punched it. poor girl. anw when we arrived i was looking for a sign. any sign which could be assosiated with our group whatever.and there he was, Mr. Bill Lim was standing right infront of the arrival gate, our local tour guide. the roads of China reminded me of NS highway Malaysia. i didnt realise that we were driving onn the right side of the road instead of the left. anw the jam was kinda bad. almost 1000 new cars are on the road everyday. the 1st stop was The Oriental Pearl Tower. it was so freaking high. you could see the whole of shanghai if it was much clearer. the queue was super long but woth the wait. and there was this place that looked just like the Suntec City fountain but no fountain, just the road and the road of the fountain was a walkway. looked like a landing space of some shit. anw it was damn noisy up there. i shouted and noby heard. it was that noisy. there was this level where the floor was made of glass and you could see right down to the ground. i almost pee myself. i saw a mosque btw while otw to Cheng Huang Temple which is now a shopping centre. the entrace was so like bugis street. and there was this small part of the temple which was on water. so cool. there were no more bicycles on China anymore. just motorised bikes which cost only S$600 to S$900. fucking cheap. i want one. after that went for lunch. OMG the food was just different. imagine nasi padang on a glass turntable but authentically chinese style. i used chopsticks throughout the 5 days. i almost got pissed once cause i hated using them but what to do right? next was this building where the future of Shanghai was shown. it was amazing what they had in mind for its future. it was like New York in Asia. cool shit. every week 1 building is already being planned to build. after the whole day we finally checked into the hotel. i was shagged. we were only given an hour to freshen up and we went for dinner. same thing. all my meals were the same. as in chopsticks, no spicy foods, carbonated drink and weird foods. after that we went back to the hotel and i took an amazing shower and i slept like a baby. i havent slept like that in ages.

DAY 2: OLD & NEW
we went to a museum after breakfast. no lighter, no water. that was a first. they scared i burnt the whole museum or throw water at the painting or my water is actually acid. wth. it was okay anw the museum i mean. they had pottery dating back over 4000BC. real genuine jade. clothes from some dynasty and Tibet. weapons that were used back then. after that we went to this place which looked like old London. it was more kinda place to drinking and high class fancy restaurants. feels like at Clarke Quey. after that we went to the river front. it was gorgeoues. the buildings by the river look nothing like the others. it was as if we're in europe or something. anw next was SHOPPING. otw to the place this China dude asked me if i Singaporean. of course i was but to play safe i said no. then he said india? i said no. damn i was offended. i said i was from Thailand. i'll fucking Muay Thai him if he said India again. anw i bought myself some shoes. Vans to be exact. only S$50. and a wallet for Dad, only S$2.

DAY 3: PASTRY SHOPPING
day 3 was abit more slack and short. we went to these 2 pastry shops which were very famous there. i just watched them do their thing and bought some stuff for home. after that we wanted to go to this shopping centre known for its cheap stuff and can bargain till 80% but it was closed. so we went to the one near our hotel same thing but alot of shit happened. Sarah passed the money to the shop keeper but he aid she didnt pass any money to him. sad sia. Wendilyn lost spent her money on a bag which she could get cheaper but Tiff for some reason kept raising the price. dinner and hotel. anw back at the hotel, the girls were gossiping so i joined in cause nothing better to do other than going for massage. Wee Sin is quite a bitch but i got to know him more during this trip. he's actually a nice guy, funny, bitchy and also loves ROCK \m/ it was the last thing i would expect from him. Steel Heart, Guns & Roses, Thrash Metal, Pop Rock. i was tired so i went to bed and Fahmi wanted to stay up so when he decided to crash for the night i was already in deep sleep and he couldnt get in the room so he slept with Rong Jun

DAY 4: VENICE
we went to this place called the QIbao Waterside Ancient Town. the town was very relaxing, peaceful, slack like back in Pahang, Malaysia. i took a boat ride with the malay kids and we were suppose to tun back around after then end of the river but we didnt know so we got off and went up this big bridge. we were all waving to the rest cause we weere the 1st ones there but we had to come down cause we werent suppose to get off the boat. anw we walked ard the town and i played archery. i managed to get 3 arrows in the circle while the other 7 were either on the floor, the wall or just i missed. anw i bought this leather notebook for mummy and leather wrist bands for bros. played the air rifle. managed to shoot about 90% of my targets. i told tiff to take a few pics and i said which ballon i was gonna pop 1st before i took my hot. felt like a sniper from CS or L4D2. next was another water town called Zhujiajiao which was the same but much bigger and more popular with tourists. wanted to get whatever was there but there wasnt much choices so me and Fahmi followed the malay girls to do thier nails after lunch which Renna followed us and Mr.Lim too cause we needed help to order the foor and made sure there was no PORK/BABI. just had to eat whatever was available just as long no pork. couldnt be cautious cause it was just no pork no lard. i ate cause i needed the energy. not cause i was hungry or the food was nice. went for dinner after that at this fancy restaurant where they had some performance with a guy in a traditional costume and his mask could change. big deal. seen it before but much bigger scale. the driver was awesome. the whole time he took so many bad turns but pulled through and weieved in and out of traffic like nothing at all. i salute him uh. he also brought us around town to see the night light. it was just beautiful. after that went back to hotel

DAY 5: HOME
i dint wanna go back singapore. i could stay a few more days actually. we missed breakfast on purpose. too lazy. so like an hour before we checked out Fahmi, Rong Jun and i played pool for awhile. damn he trashed us both. then lunch and it was the last time we used chopsticks. glad to be using forks and spoons again. check in at 1415 and we took loads of pics with the tour guide and flight boarding suppose to be at 1545 but it got delayed till 1645. so we just hanged out there, took loads of candid pics, smoke. oh we had to throw away our lighter and at the smoking room, theyve got a ligher attached to the wall. so cool. we we boarded the plane we thought we're already home free but it got delayed again till 1800. damn it was boring. anw airline food is still the best. had fish, potatoes, veggies, prawn salad and OJ. loads of OJ. there was more turbulance going back cause in the morning it said something about a storm approaching Shanghai from the east side. lucky we made it through and we we reach sgp it was alrd 2345. i was so afraid of missing the last bus. i got off the plane, took a pit stop and straight went out. saw the immigration point and i took the automated one instead. saved alot of time. took my bag and saw Amy and Sarah seeing their parents and families and Yaya picked Zara up. i was alone, independant. i rushed to the bus stop hoping the last bus hasnt left yet. bus stop was empty. so i went smoke 1st to relax then took the bus cause last bus 27 was at 0030. got back home ard 0115 and quietly put my stuff down, got changed and slept. mum didnt notice i got back till sahur time. its great to be back home

i miss Shanghai. it wasnt what i expected it to be. it was old and new. western influences but strong eastern traditions. i learned lot during my trip. got closer to many of my classmates and learned a lil mandarin. i wanna thank Mr. Bill Lim for bringing us around and telling us loads of info. thanks for arranging the malay kids food and helping us understand what its like to be a part of your country. thank you for an awesome time. wish to go back some day
